Compress an image

Hit a size limit on an upload form, or make a page load faster: set the quality or a target size in KB and download the smaller file.

How it works

  1. 1Drop an image.
  2. 2Pick light, medium or strong — or a quality and a target size in KB.
  3. 3Download the compressed image.

What you get

A target size, not just a slider

Set a maximum size in KB and the quality is chosen to fit under it.

Change the format too

Compress to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF — switching to WebP or AVIF is often the biggest saving of all.

Same result in your code

What you run here is one multipart request over the API, with a webhook when the job is done.

Pay for processing time

One tariff for every operation, capped per file. A failed job is refunded automatically.

Same thing over the API

One header, one multipart request with the file, then poll the job or take a webhook. The same operation you just tried in the browser.

Questions

How much smaller will it get?

Photos straight from a phone or camera usually shrink a lot; images that were already compressed shrink less. A target size in KB gives you a predictable result.

Will it look worse?

At light and medium the difference is hard to see; strong trades some detail for size.

Do I need an account?

No — images can be compressed without signing up. An account adds a daily free allowance and an API key.

Can I automate it?

Yes. Send the file to the API with service “photoconvert” and operation “compress” with quality, format and max_kb, then poll the job or take a webhook.
