Add subtitles to a video automatically

Drop a video in, and speech recognition writes the captions for you. Fix any word in the editor, pick a look, and download the video with subtitles burned in — or as a track viewers can switch off.

How it works

  1. 1Upload your video — MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM.
  2. 2Choose the spoken language (or let it auto-detect), the style and where the captions sit.
  3. 3Check the text, fix a word if needed, and download the finished video.

What you get

Recognition in ~100 languages

Built on OpenAI Whisper. The language is detected automatically, or you set it for the best accuracy.

Edit before you burn

Every caption is editable, with find-and-replace across the whole video for the names and terms recognition gets wrong.

Burned in or switchable

Burn captions into the picture for social media, or embed a soft track in MP4, MOV or MKV that players can turn on and off.

Captions that land on time

Captions are cut on word boundaries, at natural pauses, at most two lines — not one long sentence that appears early and leaves late.

Same thing over the API

One header, one multipart request with the file, then poll the job or take a webhook. The same operation you just tried in the browser.

Questions

Which video formats can I upload?

MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM up to 1080p. The result keeps your resolution.

Can I translate the subtitles?

Yes — speech in any supported language can be captioned in English. Pick “Translate → English” as the caption language.

Can I upload my own SRT instead?

Yes. Over the API, pass an SRT, VTT or ASS file and it is styled and burned in without recognition.

Is there an API?

Yes. Everything on this page is one REST operation with an API key, and an MCP server lets AI agents call it directly.
